The biggest problem we face is the one deliberately created by those who originally "investigated" Joshua's disappearance. Stearns County directed the search effort in the woods, in the lakes, in the dorms -- everywhere but inside the abbey, until a period of time later. Question: if you knew that documented sex offenders were housed within the confines of the abbey, would you not have (a) begun your search with a thorough search of the abbey; (b) interviewed every person who was in the abbey that night; (c) obtained and verified the alibies for each person; (d) searched computers and rooms; (e) searched the properties owned by the church in the rural parts of MN; and so on. No, you would only do that if you really wanted to find out the truth. The abbey was the proverbial "elephant in the room," and the sheriff (due to a conflict of interest, in my opinion) assiduously avoided doing what was necessary to properly investigate possible involvement of someone in the abbey and Josh's disappearance. And I don't want to hear the lame argument that "there was no evidence of foul play" that the sheriff initially said over and over -- Mr. Sheriff, if that's true, eight years later, where is Joshua? Why didn't you do the right thing and investigate the sex offenders housed on the campus of St. John's. Also, we now know that the Abbot was withholding information about several other monks who had records of sexual abuse. Lies, deceit, spinning -- it is all so discouraging!!! The best evidence we could have had is now most likely gone -- or hidden in a place we don't have permission to access. SHAME ON ST. JOHN'S ABBEY FOR LYING TO THE PUBLIC, AND FOR NOT VOLUNTARILY OFFERING TO HAVE THE ABBEY SEARCHED RIGHT AWAY!! SHAME ON ST. JOHN'S UNIVERSITY FOR NOT ALLOWING THE RURAL CABINS AND PROPERTIES BELONGING TO ST. JOHN'S TO BE SEARCHED!!!!
