Precisely -- the conflict of interest on the part of law enforcement (as well as many in the local community), has prevented Joshua's disappearance from being thoroughly investigated right from the start. Stearns could have asked for help from other outside investigative agencies, but chose not to. Now let me see, if this had been some big wig's kid, how deep, far, and wide would this investigation have gone?
