Nine years later, SJU student Guimond still missing
COLLEGEVILLE — It’s been nine years since St. John’s University student Joshua Guimond was last seen leaving a campus party, presumably to walk the short distance to his dorm room.
Guimond, then 20, hasn’t been seen or heard from since Nov. 9, 2002, and leads about his disappearance have trickled. His picture is on two billboards this month west of St. Cloud that are reminding people about Guimond’s disappearance and encouraging anyone with information to call authorities.
Lamar Outdoor Advertising provided the billboards free of charge to the Guimond family.
Guimond left a Metten Court apartment around midnight and disappeared without his car, glasses or a coat warm enough for the weather that night.
There have been no signs of him since.
Leads in the recent years have been “very few,” Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner said. There hasn’t been any suspicious activity on his credit card accounts since he was last seen, and no friends or family have heard from him. Searches of his computer, interviews with friends and family and ground searches of the St. John’s campus failed to develop strong leads.
Sanner hopes the billboards will prompt anyone with information to call.
“Any new information that we can receive is always a good thing,” he said.
If you have information about Guimond’s disappearance, call the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office at 251-4240.
