Saint John’s University Student Missing
(Source: St. John’s University) The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and Saint John’s University are currently conducting a search for a missing SJU junior, who has not been seen since late Saturday evening, Nov. 9. Joshua Guimond (ghee – moe), a political science major from Maple Lake, Minn., was last seen at Metten Court on the north end of SJU at approximately midnight. According to family and friends, it is unusual for Joshua to not let others know of his whereabouts. Joshua’s car was found on campus.
Joshua is 5′-10″, 175 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt. Persons with information as to the whereabouts of Joshua Guimond are asked to contact the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office at 320-251-4240 or SJU Life Safety Services at 320-363-2144.
When incidents like this occur, it is natural to try to fill in missing information and to make assumptions about what happened. This is human nature in stressful times – it helps us to make sense of the crisis. It is also natural to want to do something. As information or evidence is found to help determine what exact circumstances led to Josh’s disappearance, we will know more clearly how to proceed.
Students, as always, should do those things that are important to be safe: don’t do anything that would compromise your abilities or judgment, don’t travel alone, call ahead to friends who are expecting you and call friends and family to confirm safe arrival. Pay attention and report unusual behaviors or suspicious people.
It is essential that we care for others during this time and take good care of ourselves, too. Ask friends and family how they’re doing. Utilize the counseling resources available.
